I have been using xfce4.4 for a month, i have a problem. when i want to delete some file on my Desktop. I right clicked to a file and then select delete. After it my desktop automaticly refreshing and that file dissapper, but now i do the same steps but desktop never refreshes automaticly. i pree F5 key for it. How can i configure for auto refreshing?

You need to have fam (or gamin?) installed and running.

you need to have the dbus daemon running so your desktop can be notified of files changing. You'll also need hal for the system to work correctly, afaik.
edit: oh and like the guy above me says, fam is essential too ![]()

i have the newest version of fam and i add the dbus into my rc.conf file. i gave sudo /etc/rc.d/dbus start command but i have still same problem. do i need to run fam?

As I said earlier, yes. Fam is the file alteration monitor, after all.

i've edit /etc/fam/fam.conf file like this:
insted of this line:
# idle_timeout = 5
i modified it like following:
idle_timeout=0
after all added the fam DAEMONS line in /etc/rc.conf file. At last i gave
sudo /etc/rc.d/fam startcommand.
Now auto refreshing works well.
