hi ppl i dont know why but when i active the gnome sounds and turn off the console bell on SYSTEM--->PREFERENCES--->SOUND gnome freezes...it all gets stuck...what the hell is the problm? even if i reboot or login again it wont boot up....xsessions-errors dont say anything

install the gnome-audio...i have it...but when activeted gnome instatly gets frozen!!!

any package that could solve the problm by rebuilding ?

Same here. Running alsaplay on a WAV file from the /user/share/sounds/alsa folder plays the sound -- even from a terminal INSIDE Gnome. But I get no Gnome sounds. Enabling sound causes Gnome to hang when it starts. I see no errors in the xsession log either.

Yeah, there is a bug reported on it from back in late February I think, and there is a thread where I put more troubleshooting in this in the Newbiw forum (has "reboot" in the thread title). Bottom line -- still no sound.
