Borked GNOME, fam, or something.. :)

Hey.  I have FAM installed and set up as a daemon.  Just thought I'd begin with that.

When I install apps, they now no longer are automatically added to the menus.  Or they ARE, but they don't display until I log out of GNOME and back in first.  I can see them on edit-menus and they are even CHECKED, but they still don't display in the actual menu.

This was not a problem until recently.  I installed XFCE4.4 to check it out, but decided not to use it.  Removed it and this issue began.  Did I remove something?  Any ideas how to resolve this?

Actually... further testing has shown this to be a mixed bag.  vlc and linuxdcpp-cvs do not automatically show up in the menu.  Azureus and Kaffeine did.  Weird???
