I'm getting a new PC soon with a 64-bit processor.
I'll download the 0.8 archlinux ISO for it, but in fact I could as well try the x86_64 one.
However I'm not the guy who tries out many different things, I rather install Archlinux just once and then make use if it for my daily activities (coding & browsing) for years, using pacman to update it regularly.
So therefore I'd like to hear opinions from the people using 64-bit Archlinux: how well does it work for you? Are there any problems or limits related to 64-bit Archlinux, compared to the 32-bit version? Are there any advantages you notice compared to the 32-bit version?
Do you use Arch64 daily and as only operating system?
How well does Wine work?

One advantage is the speed. Some applications become much faster, because Arch64 is compiled with sse2 support. You can only get Flash with nspluginwrapper. It works good, although it's not a very good solution. ( Adobe...........). I can't tell you if wine works, sorry....

It's been nothing but nice here, the only limitations I can think of is not being able to run 32-bit stuff (like flash and wine), though you could set up a 32-bit chroot and run them from there instead.

Like the others have mentioned, Flash and some other things (nothing I use) don't work natively on x86_64, but you can get most of them working to some degree. I decided not to install anything 32-bit to see how usable it really is...so far, it has been great. It is my only o.s., so it has to work. As far as I've seen, all the packages in current and extra are available. I'm not sure about unstable and testing, but I have noticed that some packages available in the 32-bit community repo haven't made it into the 64-bit repo...not sure why, but it's not a huge problem.

Running 32bit apps is tricky, but generally arch64 is nice

I've been using 64 bit Arch for months and I love it. Nearly everything I want to run is already in the repositories. And the above mentioned 32 bit software is easy to set up with existing packages. I have both Wine and Flash running without problems.
