DVD problem [SOLVED]

Since my upgrade to Voodoo and kernel 2.6.20, CD/DVD drive is absent from my system. It does not appear in /dev nor in dmesg, as far as I can see. I'm also unsure as to which of these, if any, is the drive I'm looking for:

I've seen on the forums that a few other Archers have had the same or similar problems, and most of them have found a solution. But nothing works in my case (playing with modprobe, mknod and the like) and I'm a bit lost. Any idea?

Re: DVD problem [SOLVED]

You can try running   ls -l /dev   and see which device(s) the cdrom and dvd symlinks are pointing to. For example, my dvd drive used to be hda, and my dvdrw used to be hdc (keep in mind, this was last December). When I installed Arch last weekend, I found that they were now sr0 and sr1. I hope this helps...if not, I'm useless. smile

Re: DVD problem [SOLVED]

As I said, dvd and cdrom are nowhere to be seen. There are no such symbolic links in dev... many thanks anyway, we'll see if someone else comes up with another solution.

Re: DVD problem [SOLVED]

This was a (somewhat strange) hardware problem, which I've now fixed.
Sorry for alarming you guys.
Problem solved.
