Wireless rtl8187

Ive been trying to get my Wireless Realtek rtl8187 (integrated-usb) to work in both Gentoo and Arch for a while now without success, Realteks drivers wont compile (think i have a kernel which is too new)

I also tried ndiswrapper and win2k/win98 drivers, it works and i can scan for networks, but it wont let me connect to networks even tho theyre open without any security.

The card works fine in Ubuntu by default from their LiveCD without any problems whatsoever smile
I suspect it has todo with Ubuntu running a customized 2.6.17 kernel, a normal 2.6.17 kernel wont even boot on my machine since my hardware is too new (no support for my ATA chipset)

Any ideas?

Re: Wireless rtl8187

How are you trying to connect to the wireless networks?

After 'iwconfig' shows you're attatched to a certain wifi-network, have you tried running:

# dhcpcd <wifi-device>
