I'm posting this here so that it appears as a thread that involves a problem with recent updates to xfce4-svn in unstable. Apparently this occurs with both Firefox 2 and Opera. If your browsers is in a workspace other than the current workspace, and you click on a URL link in the current workspace (e.g., in your email client), your browser will move to the current workspace while loading the selected link.
Here's the thread:

This was solved in the other thread shortly after posting this:
xfce4 -> settings manager -> window manager tweaks -> focus tab -> "activate focus stealing prevention"

That's not a fix, it's a workaround. Focus stealing prevention doesn't work properly anyways... certain windows don't get pushed to the top when I want, and it's very annoying. In the latest RC and all prevoius versions of XFCE I've never had to use focus stealing prevention. Something has recently changed to cause this to happen, and it needs to be reversed.

do you open links in new windows or new tabs? it doesn't happen if you open in new windows, only tabs, which kind of makes more sense anyway.
i could be wrong, but personally i think it's just something in your settings that's off. everything's working for me the way it used to in the old xfce4, as far as i can tell, and it works the same way it works for me in fluxbox on slackware.

I'm using single-window-mode, so links open in tabs. I've been using single-window-mode for ages though, and this only recently started happening.
The problem with focus-stealing-prevention is another one all together. For example, if your cursor is in an input box in Firefox, and you try to open another window, firefox remains on top. There are other's too...

This is correct. Using xfce4-svn in other distos, I don't have to enable focus stealing prevention, and it all works fine. When I enable focus stealing prevention in xfce4-svn in Arch, many windows I want to come to the forefront, don't.

Is this not going to be fixed? It's been months and this is still happening. It's EXTREMELY annoying.

xfce-svn has an option for this behavior in window manager tweaks.
