I registered at the wiki to fill in some of the minor gaps in the beginners guide (my way of giving back). As I was doing it, I realized something. Anybody could edit the wiki. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but what if someone came and erased some data? Is it backed up anywhere? We have one of the best wiki's I've ever used. I'd hate to see this happen.

Ever seen Wikipedia? Happens all the time. But as (most) wikis keep each and every revision it's easy to revert malicious edits. Only wiki admins can really purge articles completely.

Is it backed up in case of a crash or corruption of the database holding all information?
I've seen entire wikis gone to dust after a mysql wipeout.

i'm fairly sure we have frequent backups of the archlinux.org mysql db, but eventually someone will reply who knows for sure.

Neotuli would know.
My understanding is there are a few backups that he has made periodically. I don't believe the arch server currently has any regular backup schedule. I certainly could be, and hope that I am, wrong.
