...updating system (kernel, xfree...)

Good morning.

The updating of the system is pacman -Syu.
OK.
During the updating, some packages as kernel and Xfree doesn't udpated caused by the pacman.conf.

Now, the only way is to do pacman -Sf kernle26 and so or other way?
Changing the pacman.conf is a good idea?

Thanks.
Luca.

Re: ...updating system (kernel, xfree...)

in my opinion updating kernel26 and xfree86 doesnt hurt the system you should change the /etc/pacman.conf (only lilo must be at IgnorePkg )

Re: ...updating system (kernel, xfree...)

Thanks.

I post you my pacman.conf about only general option:

[options]
LogFile     = /var/log/pacman.log
NoUpgrade   = etc/passwd etc/group etc/shadow
NoUpgrade   = etc/fstab etc/raidtab
NoUpgrade   = etc/rc.conf etc/rc.local
NoUpgrade   = etc/modprobe.conf etc/modules.conf
NoUpgrade   = etc/lilo.conf boot/grub/menu.lst

I don't have any IgnorePkg command line.
Where and how can I insert it in pacman.conf?

Thanks.
Luca.

Re: ...updating system (kernel, xfree...)

HTH ...hope that helps

no the code I posted was from my pacman.conf I update kernel via ABS long story

you can set up pacman.conf so that it does not upgrade without asking the user or will ignore package altogether
