recent free software moves in France

after the latest decision to not renew ms licenses across the whole french administration (gigantic market counting hundreds of thousands of machines) and favor free (as in speech) solutions (mainly because of data survival concerns), two interesting moves have taken place lately:

- with the current presintential campaign going on, a candidate (F.Bayrou) has clearly stated the sentence: "Protect free software" in his campaign flyer.
- neuf telecom has built a easy to use a lightwieght computer based on free software.

and with the advent of vista, drm and hdcp, more and more people around me are getting sick of windows and start leaning towards osx and linux.

not wanting to sound like an opensource zealot, but things are somehow taking an interesting spin, slowly but steadily gaining momentum.
