Qtstalker-cvs installation did not work-Solved

I was trying to install qtstalker from AUR and I did "aurbuild -sae qtstalker-cvs"  and then selected the recommended option "v" that is using versionpkg and pcman. Here is the error I got:

aurbuild is not the problem, both Options, v and b, fail because the cvs can't be built. As far as I see it. Wait for a while, perhaps it is fixed in a few days.

CVS/SVN is for development and CVS/SVN-Versions of Software is bound to be unstable or even not compilable. I wonder if some people will ever understand that. wink

Usually, aurbuild deletes temporary files on its own. You can check in .aurbuild (either user or root, don't know right now) for other files. Mostly, all should already been cleaned up.

Todays mistakes are tomorrows catastrophes.

Only if the build succeeds. If the build fails, it retains the build directory in /var/tmp/aurbuild/build/. The exact directory name from there should have been spitted back out to you when it failed. You can use -c to clean ALL failed builds in /var/tmp/aurbuild/build/. Remember if the build fails it does not mean parts of the package is in your live filesystem, only in its build directory. Thats the beauty of makepkg and underprivaleged building. Aurbuild drops down to this build user while calling makepkg so no worries smile

Since cvs version was not working, I took the PKGBUILD of old qtstalker version (0.32) from aur and built the latest one (v 0.33). But I faced the following problems with it.
1. the most important problem is that it is not working!!!. I mean I able to start the application but when I download quotes from yahoo, it gives me error "bad date yyyy" where "yyyy" is an year and it's downloading only today's quotes. I searched in google and found only one place where mention of this has been made but no solutions, https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qt … +bug/80470. I followed the instructions in http://qtstalker.sourceforge.net/quick.html.
2. I tried to upload the latest version of qtstalker in aur, but it says "You are not allowed to overwrite the qtstalker package."

Any solution guys???

You'll need to be the maintainer of the package to upload it, I see it's been orphaned so you could always adopt the package, also there's a patch on the sourceforge site that you could add to fix the date problem

Thanks bones for referring the patch. I have downloaded the patch, but could u please tell me what to do with that patch. Where shall I copy that.  Also, what lines shall I include in pkgbuild to incorporate that patch in the package itself?

I found this http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php? … m_id=80701 while searching how to apply patch. It says to change to ~/qtstalker source directory and apply the new patch with the command patch -u -p0 -i downloaded-patchfile.diff. How can this line be include in PKGBUILD. Here is my pkgbuild.

How to create envelop/straight channel (along with cdl-rel-ma, found in cvs) which is recommended by Dr Elder in his book Come into my trading room as better than BB for stocks and futures.

Here is what i tried, but ended up with bb only.

EMA5 := TALIB(EMA,Close,5)
EMA22 := TALIB(EMA,Close,22)
EMA52 := TALIB(EMA,Close,52)
UChannel := BBANDS(BBANDS,Close,5,3,3,EMA,1)
LChannel := BBANDS(BBANDS,Close,5,3,3,EMA,3)

Also, of note is that when i included cdl-rel-ma, candles were not plotted and hence, i had to include cdl-rel and EMA section.
