I don't know if it was the kernel upgrade to 2.6.20 or the hal upgrade but my mouse has changed from /dev/input/mouse0 to /dev/input/mouse1.
Not a problem I suppose but I just wondered if anyone else has had this issue?

yep, same here. mouse0 is now "Macintosh mouse button emulation".. whatever that is.

Oh right. Where could I have found out this information?

cat /proc/bus/input/devices | egrep "Name|Handlers"

I updated kernel on two machines today, and on both I needed to change mouse device.

Use /dev/input/mice instead. It won't change, and it takes input from all mouse-like devices hooked up (which is probably the behavior you want).

But /dev/input/mice doesn't always play nice with wacom tablets, which is my situation. Not only did I have to change my mouse device, but sometimes I have to change it when I reboot. As if the mouse gets randomly assigned to /dev/input/mouseX.
Any ideas on how to lock it down to one? Perhaps a udev rule?

I'm having the same issue. It fooled me at first upon a fresh install. Glad to see that others are seeing this and not just me.
