After upgrade - sound and xfce battery monitor problem?

I've done pacman -Su few minutes ago, rebooted and now I have two problems :

1. There is no Master channel in alsamixer. I run alsaconf again, tried with aplay (there was sound) and set up volume control in XFCE (there are only PCM, mic and capture channels). Sound worked perfectly before upgrade, but now it is quite poor. I've upgraded kernel, but I am not sure if any of alsa packages are upgraded. Anyone knows what could cause this?

2. Battery monitor in XFCE was working just fine before upgrade, but after I've rebooted it's not working anymore. The bar beside battery icon is empty and there is only "50%%". All other applets are working fine. Anyone knows what could be problem?

Re: After upgrade - sound and xfce battery monitor problem?

there were some changes with the ACPI modules.
You should add the following modules to your /etc/rc.conf

If you add  "battery" and because you have a Toshiba, maybe also "toshiba_acpi" in your modules
it will work., I had the same problem with gnome-power-manager.

There is a wiki page about it.

Thank you very much for your help. battery monitor is working now properly. But the sound problem still left... Anyone has any idea why don't I have master channel? When I open alsamixer, there is master channel, but it's value are just two zeros(00).

Re: After upgrade - sound and xfce battery monitor problem?

I really can't believe it - I've opened XFCE Settings> Sound. Selected all channels that I need, and the sound suddenly started to work fine, quality was excellent. Then, I did again pacman -Syu and now again I have the same problem with sound, but I can't fix it like the last time. Anyone???

btw It is also interesting that volume max. is 99%...?
