My current GNOME.  I know the Vista Emerald is pretty lame, but I think it looks cool for a day or two.

My actual desktop, not changing since some month
Running in the dock are wmzcalclock, asmon, wmnet and Mixer.app, from top to bottom.
Background is drawn by xplanet ("real time" sunlight & clouds )

Can I know your xplanet conf?

Easy, just 4 lines:
[earth]
cloud_map=/tmp/clouds_2048.jpg
image=earth_2048.jpg
night_map=night_jk.jpg

I run xplanet with "xplanet -transparency -body earth -latitude 43 -longitude 12 -radius 70 -config ~/.xplanet -wait 600"

and in my fcrontab, i ran the python script every 3 hours: python ~/docs/misc/dlclouds.py /tmp/clouds_2048.jpg

You can grab the script from xplanet's site.

Erm, macbar? If you mean the menu-applet in the gnome-panel, that's aquila_deus' macmenu & gtk2 hack. No longer maintained, but it still works.
