mythtv or freevo

hi, i'm trying to build a video box for my living room. it will be used by my parents too so i want it to be as simple as possible (with games for my little brother and me of course ). but i can't decide what software to use, mythtv or freevo. freevo looks simpler to me (no database, easy setup), but mythtv seems to have more functionality (ripping music/video, lots of plugins). does anyone have any experience with both apps? which one would you advise me to use and why? and on how old hardware can you run them normally?

MythTV. Freevo is a hacky setup - lots of editing configuration files. MythTV appears to be much better supported in Arch.

I would go MythTV with Arch until the Freevo stuff is more supported. Also, it would seem MythTV is very customizable and some what of a standard in F/OSS PVR.
