Gnome 2.4: mouse wheel only works over the sidebar

Hi, I have noticed the following things in Gnome 2.4 Metacity:

- The mouse wheel only works when it is exactly over the sidebar.

- The only way to bring a window to the front is clicking in the title.

- I have to set up the language everytime GDM starts.

How can I change this behaviour?

1.- solved by mapping mouse buttons correctly.

2.- solved by upgrading to 2.6

3.- solved by upgrading to 2.6
