Re: May 2007 Screenshots

ok, so i have asked around a little and apparently visibility is supposed to be clickable. how come mine isn't, is this an aur related bug?

dude.... how'd you get urxvt to be transparent???

i'm sure this is it, i could be wrong, but add this line to ~/.Xdefaults

urxvt*fading: 90

My advice for the day: if you get issues with font rendering performance when using EXA, set "MigrationHeuristic" to "greedy" in the xorg.conf Device section. This should make it perform about as well as XAA.

Back to good ol' OpenBox. The wm theme is just a color modification of "glitch", with a border added to match with visibility. I tried a few different dark gtk2 themes, but ended up unsatisfied and modified my own theme to new colors.

What is your panel or task bar at the bottom of your desktop? big_smile

How do you run network manager under openbox?

Starts, networkmanager as an daemon  & and all the other neceserry daemons etc, put "nm-applet --sm-disable" into an script which starts up when i start openbox, see the openbox part of the Arch's wiki for howto on how to do this;)

Hello.  What emerald/metacity is that?  Your Pidgin icon is a big green dot!  Hrrrm.  I upped to 2.0, but still have the Beta 7 tray icon.

Re: May 2007 Screenshots

Haven't posted anything in the forums for a while, but recently returned to KDE from FVWM, so I thought I'd post my new screenshots.

This shows the unclean desktop with the top bar, I bunched several things together here, though they can be dragged between desktops:
topdesktopbar1kf3.th.png

The second shows the bottom desktop bar with an otherwise clean desktop:
bottomdesktopbar1tv2.th.png

I'm rather pleased with how this tinkering has come out. I'm using the Crystal Kwin theme by dralgebra and manowarlord's Crystal Diamond Icons (the Archlinux variant thereof). The background and layout of icons are my own design (the former in Gimp using a few simple rendering effects).

Be well,
Rob
