Strange error: APIC error on CPU0: 00(40)

Can anybody tell me what this error message means? It does show up after being logged in for a minute.

Hi,

are you using an SiS-Chipset?  (lspci helps to identify your chipset)

Try to boot with the "-noapic" Option (without quotation marks).

No SiS Chipset.. but I will try the noapic option anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

You have ATI chipset like me.  adding noapic to grub will clear the messages.
