Problem: Firefox significantly more laggy than Epiphany

I've got firefox 2.0.0.3-1 installed on my Celeron 600MHz with 192MB of SDRAM (should be plenty of RAM, frankly) and it lags all the time. I can't even pass my mouse over a button without the visual effects lagging. There has to be a problem with Firefox, because I've got Epiphany 2.18.1 installed and it's freaking fast. In fact, I'm almost considering setting it as the default browser, because Firefox lags whatever I do.

Is there some way to fix this problem?

Yes don't use Firefox. Firefox isn't suitable for "vintage machines". I've seen this beast with 300Mb in memory at my box.

Use UNIX or die.

Firefox is one very resource hungry application, especially for RAM, and your computer doesn't have that much of it. For a computer like that I'd recommend either sticking to Epiphany or using Opera is you don't mind the fact it isn't open source.
