GNOME boots slowly

Hi
I have an irritating problem with GNOME. Last time, when i was using Gimmick, everything worked fine. Now I dl'd Voodoo, and it takes him about 2-3 minutes to become fully operative. Does this have sth to do with that /usr move?

Certainly not. It would be interesting to know just what has become slow? Launch time? Check if your loopback device is running properly and what kind of services you start.

No, no, arch's boot time is ok, but after I pass GDM, things become slower.
Here:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network netfs crond gdm portmap hal dbus fam alsa)

You should start hal before gdm, as gdm uses dbus now. hal starts dbus automatically.

I can imagine, that gnome searches a while for dbus ...

My DAEMONS line:

DAEMONS=(hal gdm network fam @openntpd @alsa @sshd)

You need to start dbus and hal before gdm. Since hal automatically starts dbus, you can just start hal and the rest will be fired up in the background.

Maybe it's related with session management in gnome. Try to disable session saving in preferences.
