hal and automount problem [SOLVED]

My USB drive used to mount just fine.  Recently, however, when I try to automount it with KDE, I just get a message that says "Cannot obtain lock for /media/.hal-mtab".  I can't seem to find any reason for this.  When I try to manually start HAL, it fails for some unknown reason.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: hal and automount problem [SOLVED]

Never mind.  After hours of searching, I found the answer somewhere in the forums about two minutes after this post, although I can't remember where I found the answer.  It seems that making HAL start DBUS and not having it start in the background like I usually do fixed it.

Re: hal and automount problem [SOLVED]

Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. Could you please post your rc.conf so that I can compare to mine ? Thanks.

Already done, but it didn't really help me. I have also posted my problem (with more details) here : http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=32331

I also have the autofs package installed and running.  Installation instructions are in the wiki.
