A hard day for meow linux

hi all , I release my MeoW later to remove some bugs and make beryl standartly avaible.

First I must say that i tested Vista today , and wooow it looks great , but that's all XD. I downloaded a test version for 30 days ( home premium ) , because we need some ideas from vista for meow's look ( yes I plan glass look , because I love glass , glass will be the master of the world lol ).
Ok back to topic. After I tried to install my usb driver nothing do ? where is my drive ? Ok , I tried to restart and who says that since windows xp no more blue screens ? My vista killed himself mad
After a heavy restart my usb drive was detected, mhh ok , but I think a blue screen because of an usb drive ....
I plugged in my 5.1 headset and installed my control station for it into vitsa... great .. first I played my naruto video and the sound was miserable ( my ears was hurted ). I tried to change some specs in my audio center .. from 5.1 to 2.0 ... bammmm .. next blue screen . After that , I gone back to my Linux ... ok some proggs are missing , but Linux runs every time smooth .. ok some parts sometimes are difficult to configure , but at all it runs better.

But at all : Vista is great . The look is very cool , and the thumbnailing system also . But I will use that only as game system because of DX10. Vista is great for games , but linux is better for work , for me cool

PS : cross fingers for new open GL , its very good and can the same like DX10 , UT 2007 will be build with them and we all know , opengl games often availe for linux xD

======================================================
================== THATS IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!! =================
======================================================
and some questions for you !
Whats the best application for it ?
we search for :

1. DVD playback
2. DVD video making
3. DVD photo making
4. DVD audio making
5. musik programms like audacity
6. video editing
7. howto oss and alsa to jack
8. look of meow beryl ( what plugs are as standart )
9. photo managing ( like picasa )
10. shoul'd we include QT to MeoW
11. equalizier ? ( 2.0 to 5.1 )

the importants , anybody knows how to make KDE look like this ( important kbfx , konquorer, kicker , taskbar ) ?
--> we think about a change to KDE , because KDE has more progs and a better handling to GTK as GTK to QT ( I think ) .

http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview … kanpio+mod

I can't configure my konquorer like this sad

http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview … name=Tango

http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview … arsen-blue

or :

http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview … Experience
( has cool QT theme )

http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview … ta+desktop

12. what do you like more ? nautilus or konquorer as file manager . I like nautilus because of its cool thumbnails xD

Re: A hard day for meow linux

no QT is the trolltech libraries for KDE xD

..
Yes we don't wan't Vista , but a glassy look .. and with jack .. jack is an audio server in realtime .. no sound jumps and s on .. with that you can multiple oss and alsa sound applications to one sound card ^^
but I need little help how to use them with alsa2jack and oss2jack..

Now we have make our choice , we take gnome and we will publish a additional QT/KDElibs ( We will need it for Amarok lol ) modul on meow's homepage and in "MeoW Ultimate" ( Full Desktop Edition with man applications )

Currently I will wait for KDE4 and then I will look how good it is..

Re: A hard day for meow linux

As marties said, when will 3.0 be released?
Looking forward to it as it seems as a good concept to me. You mentioned upload to Distrowatch, but Meow is not on the waitinglist for upcoming releases, and there it is a 90 days waiting period from a request come in  until it actually will be listed?.

Re: A hard day for meow linux

With ALSA you don't need any other sound server running to have mixed audio between multiple apps. This is now a feature of the kernel sound architecture.

Re: A hard day for meow linux

sry , the last two weeks I was away and because that MeoW got a break. I hope to release MeoW in some days , at the moment the kernel question is important . I plan to include ksize patch into a new arch kernel with arch config. I hope it isn't break the default config , so that you can use kernel modules from arch repo for kernel26. (( I woul'd be very easier if we can use offical kenel modules from arch repo like wlan divers ))

MeoW 3.0 will be on distrowatch ( I hope it ). Please wait some days , MeoW only need a new kernel and then we release 3.0. The 3.1 update comes early and brings the installer , because the time is to short to include it to 3.0 release.

Re: A hard day for meow linux

Tatzi, MeoW is my dream distro. I'm holding off on trying Arch until I can get my hands on MeoW, is it ready yet? I didn't see anything on your website, or on Sourceforge. sad  I was very stoked about MeoW until I read what you're working on with incorporating JACK as the ultimate master sound server, and now I am extatic about it, as I have already decided on switching to Arch for my music distro since it it i686 optimized and makes building svn software from source extremely easy, as I am constantly doing with audio apps..

Is MeoW available for download anywhere yet?

Do you need ideas or suggestions still?

-Victor
