Use the --debug option to see the details for our search for an access method

for (stock) kernel 2.6.21 i've also built it into the kernel to avoid these messages.

Re: kernel26ck no hardware clock [SOLVED]

Hi, I hope someone is monitoring this old topic, because I think the issue may have reappeared.

I'm not sure when it started happening but I'm getting the "Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method" message during boot.  I keep my system pretty up to date and have testing enabled so I should be on the latest kernel.

Re: kernel26ck no hardware clock [SOLVED]

Yup i get it too, on my athlon fx-55 box and my macbook pro. Both running arch 64. Time is fine in my desktop, but time is messed up on my macbook's arch64 install if i reboot into osx and then into linux.

Re: kernel26ck no hardware clock [SOLVED]

This one went away after one of the system updates, so I thought it had been fixed.  I am also on x86_64.  Have you tried doing a full system upgrade?

Re: kernel26ck no hardware clock [SOLVED]

I have an alternate startup command line that includes:
noapic nolapic acpi=off.

The message appears then.

If I remove those options then all is fine.

Re: kernel26ck no hardware clock [SOLVED]

I'm seeing this with a custom kernel (2.6.25 final+tuxonice+colorprintk) with acpi enabled.
