Ok,
This has to be a simple TCP window thing I hope. MTU ? etc.....
I have a 8mb/s ADSL High Speed ADSL1 using ethernet not wireless but both exhibit the same thing.
When downloading and files /or using pacman I get max speed then slows dramatically even stops then picks up again then repeats. Keeps going but like a buffer isn't big enough somewhere. Is there a simple fix.
Using Dynalink 1025W ADSL/Router.
By the way all is ok on WIN/XP and also Kanotix just seems my beloved Arch is not quite right ?
thanks,
Cliff

Are you using the ftp.archlinux.org mirror? If so, the mirror is throttled.

No a local mirror but this happens even from my ISP's Server with other files just gets up to max speed then slows or stops then keeps repeating weird?
Seems better since I updated to the latest Kernel maybe had something to do with it ?

Do you use pacman v.3 ? (pacman -V) pacman v.3 used to report too fast download speeds for me(atleast faster than pacman2 and maybe it's just my mirrors but i've seen other reports of this too). Maybe this is related.
