Hello,
I've been having some problems with my sound, and I'd like to ask for some help or advice.
I think the problems started when I upgraded to kernel 2.6.20. When playing any kind of sound file (with any program, or even catting a random file to /dev/dsp), the sound would pop and crackle. That was annoying. I confirmed it wasn't a hardware fault by booting a LiveCD and playing some music from there. I booted back into Arch, and everything was allright.
From time to time, the problem came back, but then it went away (I either upgraded the kernel, or simply rebooted).
Now, I have another problem, probably related, probably not. The sound pauses after a while of playback (sometimes after a long period, sometimes 5 seconds after I start playback). Any program I use, from audacious to madplay does this. And I cannot seem to get some output on the matter. I really don't know what the problem is. I'm running on a normal AC '97 soundcard, courtesy of my Abit IC7 motherboard. Oh, and latest Arch, testing repo included.
Has anyone experienced the same problems?
