This is an alpha release. The final KDE 4.0 will be released in october (if i'm not wrong)

If they can hold the release plan, they're really short of time for the tasks they still have open.

I might be blind, but didn't they want to include a composite manager for KDE to fully integrate 3D-effects into the desktop? That's one of the things I'm looking forward to most. Beryl is great, but not made for KDE and hence integrity problems are likely to occur.

Thanks a lot. I do not think that the composite managing will be fully available with 4.0.0, rather with the release of 4.1.0. It's okay, if they manage to include decent and subtle effects which improve usability.
