I'm using evolution with gmail account (fetch via pop).

Mutt, of course. +offlineimap, because I'm an IMAP fan , and mutt's IMAP support is... strange.

Kmail all the way, X11 forwarding if I'm not at home, and various webmail interfaces for my different mail accounts if I forwarding isn't available.
This is for a GMail POP account and a handful different IMAP accounts.

I use Mutt-ng

I use evolution, I hate the fact that it's a do-everything app, but the actual mail client is the one I've liked better so far, so that's what I use to fetch gmail and the two imap uni accounts.
(I kind of made it a single use app by removing the swaper buttons and putting launchers for the components I use in awn so it feels more like they are different apps even though they aren't)

Thunderbird + Enigmail via IMAP
used sylpheed before, but the gpg support in thunderbird with enigmail is way more comfortable, even if it seems a bit more bloated.
edit: switched over to claws-mail with the gpg plugin

sylpheed on my laptop, thunderbird on arch, mutt on server, and gmail for general convenience (hate the interface and some of the quirks, tho).
what's the difference between claws-mail and sylpheed? think i might switch from thunderbird on arch, too. i like how light sylpheed is, and t-bird seems unfinished or kind of "toy-like" or something. hard to define, like atarxia said.

I tried to use fdm several times in the past, but I have been unable to have it working. I had absurd problem with default tags expansion (the tag for the present year expanded to 135, that for the present month to April when it was January, but the output of "date" in my system is correct). I tried to define instead a macro which takes the output of date (this is what I actually do in .procmailrc), but I have never been able to have it working. Moreover, I missed the formail function of maintaining a cache for duplicates and was enable to make formail interact with fdm in a match... pipe... returns rule.
The sample config files in the package do not illuminate these aspects. There is no mailing list, no forum and the author did never reply to my questions by email. Phrakture, may be that your config file can illuminate me? Do you know an alternative method to avoid duplicate messages?
However, I admit that getmail works fine and that procmail, in spite of the exotic syntax of its config, works reliably when you manage to configure it properly. Once done this effort, it works for life.

Claws mail reading from a home mail server that basically only recieves emails forwarded from my gmail account.

Claws-mail with a local dovecot-imap-server as storage. If I want to change my mail client, I have no trouble with exporting and importing mails from one client to another one.

GMail all the way for me, with a gmail notifier in the tray.

I used to like kmail very much, but then I switched to gnome and i changed all my applications to no-K ones. I tried thunderbird first, but i soon found out that i didn't like it's usability and there was also a lack of features that i can't remember now.
For the past few months i've been using evolution and the only disadvantage i've found (but that strangely doesn't bother me at all) is the fact that i don't need all the calendar, organiser, memos, tasks thing
Today i tried to switch back to thunderbird, since the new 2.0 is out, but i soon found out i am too lazy to reconfigure everything and fetch(or import) my mail to thunderbird.
I've also tried mutt a couple of times and i have always been fascinated by it, but it just seems too strange without a html browser and picture viewer.
and i have two accounts: a gmail one which sends a copy of everything it gets to my other account which is on lavabit.com

Cool, I just setup fdm, it's much nicer and faster to config than get/fetchmail + procmail. I also stole a few things from your .fdm.conf
Running fdm + mutt + msmtp now
