k9copy producing unusable isos

I can burn isos I made with k9copy a while back and they play fine.  I can open the old isos fine with k9copy.  Any newer isos I've made no longer play on any of my stand alone players, and cause k9copy to bomb when I try to open them in k9copy.  This seems to have occurred around the same time that it started calculating iso sizes incorrectly - I see gradgrind has an unanswered open ticket at the k9copy sourceforge site about this issue.  The workaround for me was to set the desired size smaller, but it still adds a ton to the final size.  This seems like it might be an issue with vamps which has been recently upgraded:

[03/09/07 18:59] upgraded vamps (0.99.2-3 -> 0.99.2-4)

I'm trying to downgrade to see if I can solve this issue that way, but so far can't find a way to get a pkgbuild from a community package, and haven't had the time to put one together for myself.  On the other hand, I seem to have the same issue with k9copy isos that didn't require shrinking, so I could be completely wrong - I have no idea if a > dvd4 file still gets shoved through vamps or not.  I'm very low on time at the moment so I haven't done as much troubleshooting as I normally would sad

Ideas?

Re: k9copy producing unusable isos

Well, finding the pkgbuild was easy enough - I hit the AUR and looked the the cvs area.  Building the downgrade now...

Re: k9copy producing unusable isos

So far so good - installed the downgrade and ripped a disk.  I can open that iso fine with k9copy.  I'll burn a copy and see if I can play it on a stand alone player.

EDIT: Oh, the resultant iso filesize is correct now, too - way too compressed on this trial run.

Well, that wasn't it.  The burned disc no longer completely locks up my player(s) but it still won't play, either.  Downgrading k9copy and trying again.

Re: k9copy producing unusable isos

Well, fuck it.  Nothing I have downgraded has done a damn thing - I'm pretty much tossing in the towel and waiting to see if anything ever changes.  The one thing I'm fairly sure of is that the most recent vamps is broken.

k9copy works for me fine - 3 DVD9->DVD5 with no problems and everything works fine with my Panasonic DMR-ES15

Re: k9copy producing unusable isos

That's good - I'm glad things work well for you.  I'm absolutely certain there is a problem though, as indicated in my initial post.  Old isos I have archived play fine if I burn them to a disk.  Newly made isos simply will not.  I can't see how this could be a case of my burner crapping out or my players magically crapping out at the same time.  As a data point, I also have no problems with isos I've created with my kubuntu lappy or my pclinuxos test box that I then move over to my arch box.  I've also found other reports of similar miscalculation issues with vamps (besides the one gradgrind filed with the k9copy folks, though he didn't specifically mention vamps), some folks have suggested that it's a kernel related issue, so I suppose that's one possibility I haven't looked at.
