Brand new Arch user, just installed today (or actually, yesterday now ). Been using Linux for a few months now though. I have to say it was really fun setting up this system. Well here's my current desktop.

Is your audio muted or just not setup?

If not setup run

pacman -Sy alsa-utils
gpasswd -a <username> audio

Log into your account (requires relog)

Trun your volumes up, then as root run

alsactl store
vi /etc/rc,conf #then add "alsa" to your daemons line

Haha, yeah at that point it wasn't setup yet, I hadn't even noticed. I got it all fixed searching the forums last night. Thanks though. I'm going to just copy down these steps and keep them saved in a file just in case.
