Hey guys, quick question.....
when I'm logged into the X server and I switch to a different virtual console, I am not able to switch back to the original GUI, it just has a console screen with just the text output of X. Is there something I have to add into my XFree86 config file or what?

How are you switching to you're original GUI? Ctrl+Alt+F7?. When I didn't know much I tried to go back to X by Ctrl+Alt+F1 and not F7, and I had the same problem.
Other problem I had was with my video card, that was not well supported in xfree 4.3, but 4.4 fixed it. Maybe You just have to wait for the next release.
And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you though?

Yeah switching with Ctrl-Altr-F2 or 3 or whatever and then back to F!. I have an NVIDIA card, so it's pretty well supported.

You need to switch with Ctrl+F7, not F1.

Erm, just Alt+F7 or wherever X is (F5 for me) works, no need for a Ctrl when you're in console.
