If you click and drag so that the image gets highlighted, you get another option "Copy", might this be what you are looking for?

That's really strange. I'm writing this on Firefox Portable 2.0.0.3 on Windows and it's not here either. If you right click and go to 'View Background Image', it will let you do it from there. This is dumb.

no because if then i paste the image on openoffice to open it, it takes a long time, because office has to download the image from the link, i'd only to copy the image

why not just use "save image as"?

For some strange reason it's only available on some images. For instance, the avatars on this page will show the "Save Image As", but the Arch logo won't.

Same for Opera. That's because the image is somehow included via CSS.

i've discovered that this's a bug for the linux' version of firefox, and nobody have resolved it yet; here's the link:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/20036 and https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21747

That's good to know and I haven't tried to many images so I wasn't aware of that. Hopefully this will get resolved as it works fine in the windows version.
