[Solved] Can't start acpid

I carefully followed the guide on using speedstep at http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SpeedStep.
However when it comes to starting acpid daemon, it fails with this error:
acpid: can't open /proc/acpi/event: Device or resource busy

Any clues?
