Optimizing mkpkg packages

Hello!

According to this Wiki entry it is possible to optimize the packages build by mkpkg. Now I'd like to know, is this optimization really helpful, do I gain anything by doing this? And if I'm not mistaken, this is similar to the flags one has to set in Gentoo, right?

I've tried it myself already. But I only stumbled over the problem that pacman refused to install the created 'athlon' package in the end (I actually own a AMD Athlon).

Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You gain very little.
