Automating powersave

Is there a way to tell powersave to do its thing after I am idle for x minutes?  I was thinking it might be able to tie into xscreensaver since it has powersave options for the display, but no luck.  Really, I just want it to go to sleep after I'm idle for a while.  How can I do this?

Perhaps gnome-power-manager does the trick?
You can tell it to go into powersave mode after a few minutes of being idle. No idea what "powersave-mode" means exactly, maybe it's sleep? (just  saw the function, haven't tried it yet)

Re: Automating powersave

gpm can put your monitor and computer to suspend/hibernation (you _need_ gnome-screensaver for monitor suspend though...). kpowersave has some more options available. I have never done this using a cli daemon though...
