thunderbird input issue (keyboard no worky after x hours)

Hi fellow arch users,

I am loving thunderbird 2.0, but I seem to have a weird issue with it.

After a random amount of time (usually about 1-3 hours), when I go to write a new email.. I can not enter anything into the window.

I can click any of the GUI buttons, do anything else (search for emails, read emails, copy emails, etc), but nothing keyboard-wise works.

If I use any other application like a terminal, firefox, etc, its all fine.  So its definitely a thunderbird thing.  It also seems to happen on both my desktop and laptop (both arch-current)..

any clues/tips/suggestions obvious places to look for errors?

THANKS!!!!

-spotman.

I used to get this too sometimes, though I haven't seen it lately. I even saw it on other distros. Seems to be a long-standing Thunderbird bug.

Take this one to the Mozilla people.

Re: thunderbird input issue (keyboard no worky after x hours)

thanks ataraxia, at least I know I am not alone smile

I visited buzilla.mozilla.org, and you are indeed correct.  Namely bug 372202, which is a winxp bug, but they cross reference some other bugs.  It seems like its definitely a thunderbird bug, and not even platform specific.  I guess I will just stick it out for now.  It seems really difficult to find the perfect mail client these days..

c'est la vie wink

cheers!
