Cant log in to kde

Hi all, ive installed kde with pacman and it all went fine. However i cannot log in to kde (or any DE) from xdm/gdm. It starts fine- i enter user name and pass, then it errors. gdm (which i hate tbh) says session terminated after 10 seconds. xdm does the same....
Hopefully something obvious ive missed. Thanks

Current installs: sidux, sidux, Sabayon 3.3 mini (test partition), Arch on a vm and sidux on another box..... Did i forget to mention sidux?

Try "chmod 1777 /tmp" if this was a fresh install.
