Warcraft III access to battle.net

Hi, I was trying to install Warcraft III on linux through de Wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Warcraft3

I have followed all steps, and installed the 1.21a version, (the latest i think), and I have downloaded 1.21a nocd, and patch it. The game works good with the 1.21a (when game starts, the 1.21 number is in the down-right corner), but I can't enter to battle.net and I have the original game. Game throws an error telling to me that "It's impossible to validate the game version".

I repeat, game works perfectly, only that I can't enter battle.net.

Any ideas?

Greetings

Re: Warcraft III access to battle.net

warcraft3 and the frozen throne don't (anymore) need any special trick to work
install wine
be sure to be in the cdrom group
mount cdrom
wine /mnt/cdrom/install.exe
umount cdrom

and play, no need of nocd patchor anything anymore, wine handles the cd protection, you can even play and update through battle.net (no need to download patches manually)

Do the same with TFT

The cdrom group you mean optical?

EDIT: Well it doesn't work after I added myself to the optical group... I'd like some help, please.

Re: Warcraft III access to battle.net

Actually, it is pretty easy to explain: the "fixed" exe is not valid for the Battle.Net because it is ... well fixed! But just like samIt says, you don't need to install a No-CD-Crack any longer. Just install, update and play!

It's not like that hmm When I install and click play, it gives me the incorrect cdrom error and I wonder if this has something to do with the cdrom permissions.

EDIT:
Strangely why, but two a day after I added myself to the optical group it magicaly worked smile
