I want to install 'current' packages instead of standart 0.6. I boot from base cd and mount disc with current packages to /src/arch/pkg. But then i try to install packages i see the error:
could not open sync database: current
have you used --refresh yet?
package installation failed
Whats wrong?
PS: sorry fo my bad english.

This is because your directory is not a repository, but just a set of packages. See http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Loc … y%20HOW-TO on how to create a local repository.

To install current packages, follow the ftp instructions. It uses the current builds, not the ones released on the cd.
Hobbes : Shouldn't we read the instructions?

Actually the /arch/pkg directory on the 0.6 CD is a repository, its actually the same as the "release" repository on ftp.
Have you edited your pacman.conf? Did you try the following?
pacman -Sy foobar

Oops, not very clear what I meant here, huh? :oops:
I meant, to follow the FTP INSTALL instructions for a new arch installation. This will install packages out of the current repository, instead of the release repository (which is what is on the cd).
sorry for the bad reply,

Just install base from your CD and uncomment current and comment release and 'pacman -Syu'
Or do a ftp-install
