Do I need to update config files?

I'm trying Arch for a second time (first time was two years ago), and I'm enjoying it. One question, though:

With Gentoo and Slackware, I often had to update configuration files after updating system components and certain applications. Gentoo has a pretty good system of tracking files that need manual updating. How does Arch handle this? I'm not seeing any messages saying, "Be sure to edit or update your blahblah.conf file", or "The following config files should be updated."

Thanks.

Re: Do I need to update config files?

Arch creates *.pacnew and/or *.pacsave files when something might need updating.  Pacman gives a message during the upgrade right after installing any files that might need to be updated.

Just watch for them as files are being installed.

Re: Do I need to update config files?

I use pacdiffviewer include in the yaourt package in AUR.
That list all the config file updated and propose you to view the difference, update or delete the new config file.

Thank you, ozar and tuxom.  It sounds like a good system.
