Module r1000 not found

Hello,

Since the latest kernel update, my notebook mentions that the module r1000 was not found.
I havn't recognized anything which is not working properly yet, but would be interested in knowing what this module actually is, should do and why it's gone .

The problem is ours.

We are in the process of removing r1000 from the kernel26 package, and providing it separately. This change was made in testing initially, and we have not yet moved the r1000 package from testing to current. Until that is done, you can download it here:

ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/testing/os/i686 … pkg.tar.gz

There is no risk associated with it being a testing package - it is functionally identical to the module previously supplied with the kernel.

Further news

The r8169 module, which is already included in the kernel, covers all situations in which the r1000 was previously required. As you have said that you don't have "anything which is not working properly yet", I expect that you will find that 8169 has been autoloaded for you. If you have r1000 specified anywhere e.g. rc.conf MODULES, you can safely remove it.

Hmh, i've indeed had the r1000 specified in my rc.conf. I've replaced it with r8169, the error (as expected) did not occur any longer, and my network still works fine.

My rc.conf had both r1000 and r8169.. was the r1000 for realtek cards other than just the r8169 or something?

I'm still trying to figure out why I can't push more than 5Mbps from my gigabit thinkpad to my gigabit desktop through a gigabit d-link router, hence coming across this topic. I had noticed that r1000 message and already removed the line, that worked.

I had both on my rc.conf too... Duke install cd configures only to use with r8169 and now I can't connect to wired networks....

r8169 alone can't seem to cover my situation... Looks like i either need the proprietary r1000 or r8169 is just not working properly....

I have the same problem in the post above me. Fresh duke install,.. r8169 auto laods but does not give me an interface.. looks like ill  need r1000..

Now this is very peculiar. Since this card worked during ftp install, i decided to put my cd back in and configure the network as if i was going through the install. it works! So i switch to another terminal to do an lsmod, and lo and behold it is r8169...

why wont this module work properly post-install for me?

okay, figured it out, there was a syntax error in my rc.conf damn i feel stupid
