I get a strange problem. If I have thunderbird open and firefox is not, when I try to start firefox I get "Failed to send command." but if I start firefox before I start thunderbird, all is well.
Once the problem starts it won't stop until I restart xfce4. Anybody have any idea why this is happening?

I believe this bug has been reported, but it is a bug in thunderbird/firefox and is duplicable on window managers other than XFCE4. Are you using the latest versions? I was hoping it might be fixed in thunderbird 0.6.

that problem is fixed with the newer firefox code. I tried using the nightly build of firefox and the issue wasn't present. Hopefully there will be new source package released soon for firefox.

afaik it was a Problem in the way how arch compiled firefox...with any firefox version other than the arch one it worked... just use the search engine in the forum an you'll find a package using the firefox-binary, which works flawlessly.

It's not a "compiled" bug in thunderbird, neither in "firefox", the problem
is in the script "/usr/bin/mozilla-firefox" which is included in "mozilla-firefox" package.
Just make it look like "/usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird" and everything will work fine.
With night builds you do not use that script, that's why you don't have problems.
It's a reported bug, so you do not need to report it again.

One thing that I did was to launch both with the actual script of:
/opt/mozilla-firefox/bin/firefox
and
/opt/mozilla-thunderbird/bin/thunderbird
all is well (for me anywhoo)
