E16 vs. E17

I'm still using E16 mainly because its what I'm use to. I only use it for two reasons, its moderately responsive and its easy to switch screens with the mouse. I was wondering how E17 compares, what are the advantages and how fast is it compared to E16? Any new interesting features?

Re: E16 vs. E17

Hi pecan,

I've been using enlightenment DR17 on my main PC with Arch from 2005 to last January (1) and on my laptop 'till now.
Thanks to Fouiny's, mOLOk & reverie's very nice packaging effort I've barely encountered any issue with e17-cvs big_smile

It's really beautiful, themable, fast, light (<25 MB RAM used after boot on my laptop big_smile), have lots of new features while most of those available on e16 are available in some way.

My suggestion would be you add takhis repo and give it a try a few days at least.

(1) had to shift to another distro because of issue with X ; nothing related to WM

Seeded last month: Arch 50 gig, derivatives 1 gig
Desktop @3.3GHz 8 gig RAM, linux-ck
laptop #1 Atom 2 gig RAM, Arch linux stock i686 (6H w/ 6yrs old battery smile) #2: ARM Tegra K1, 4 gig RAM, ChrOS
Atom Z520 2 gig RAM, OMV (Debian 7) kernel 3.16 bpo on SDHC | PGP Key: 0xFF0157D9

Re: E16 vs. E17

E17 for me is the best userexperience a WM can offer, aesthetically speeking anyway..

Agree with Kozaki.. just try it, it seems stable enough at the moment.
