[Solved] Last kernel update (2007-05-06) - no network, no audio

I did kernel update last night and now I don't have networking and no audio - seems like my network and audio cards just disappeared from my system sad
Before this update everything was up and running.

Can somebody help with this, please?
I'm quite new to Linux, so don't know what could help to determine this problem?
Should I paste output of lsmod, lspci, hwdetect, dmesg, something else?

Thanks in advance!

Re: [Solved] Last kernel update (2007-05-06) - no network, no audio

Roll back to the previous kernel, plus kernel modules (such as nvidia, ndiswrapper or whatever package....) until these things are resolved.
So, cd to /var/cache/pacman/pkg and ls "kernel*" and whetever else you need to roll back to (nvidia-1.0* etc) and just replace them with pacman -U.

I myself, did this to roll back;

pacman -U kernel26-2.6.20.7-2.pkg.tar.gz ndiswrapper-1.37-1.pkg.tar.gz nvidia-1.0.9755-1.pkg.tar.gz

You might too, if these packages is still in your cache...
As always, you can check /var/log/pacman.log to see what updates were made, as a reference when rolling back.

I'm quite certain the kernel maintainers would like to know what hardware you own. The output of lspci -vv will tell you exactly what devices you've got. So Give us the output from network interface, and audio card...

yeah. the latest kernel update caused one box to not boot.
I booted it with a livecd, mounted partitions manually and chrooted to them, to build initrd images, etc. The images built, but still didn't work.
I guess I will try to roll back the kernel and see if that helps.

Thanks for this advice, pelle.k! Seems it was not only kernel, but something related to udev as well. I had to spend a couple of hours to get back my networking (by restoring udev rules to previous state).
I was dumb enough and cleaned all cache shortly before update. Thanks God, I found missing packages on FTP server (seems they are keeping one version below current, what is good and I'm "back in the business" smile
Only problem I afraid of, is future updates. Seems I have to wait at least a couple of months before try next update...

Kernel26 2.6.21.1-8 fails for me as well.. various kernel-modules couldn't be loaded.

Re: [Solved] Last kernel update (2007-05-06) - no network, no audio

Just dared to update to kernel 2.6.21.3-2.
Strange situation - after first reboot no sound and network again, but when I rebooted second time - everything is working properly! wink
I didn't get where the problem was as I'm quite new to Linux, but most important is that my audio and network is working again.
Maybe somebody could explain this strange case?
