I'm on my second week running in arch linux and its been quite hard (coming from simply mepis) but fantastic nonetheless. I've crashed my pc 15 times or so (no kidding) and reinstalled as much but all this nitpicking (tweaking) is something that I haven't experience with windows, and its good.
I still got a lot of problems regarding my linux box (like cups, gnome, pacman...) but I'd like to address them all by myself, Its a great learning experience that way.
Although there's a lot of programs out there, there would always be shortcomings what would you like to see merged together for your needs?
My list:
1. Ardour + Hydrogen + Rosegarden
2. Bluefish + Nvu
3. Sauerbraten + A good story
4. Pidgin with video
5. A light weight standalone stable Beryl
What's yours?

Welcom to archlinux. I guess sometimes learning the hard way can have it's advantages. Hmm, I guess there's a few things I wish arch, or linux in general, could do, that it doesn't, but they are very few. I'm just a happy camper living without microsoft.
I don't know about merging things together. I guess you mean similar programs that have different capabilities, like xine verses mplayer verses vlc, etc. I rather like having many options and being able to chosing which I like best.

hi leigh! same here, never really thought switching OS would feel so good... Now I could spend the extra money on something else, Instead of getting vista in 2008.
Yes in a way i love to see some programs to merge and actually perform as one, but what I was really after are certain functionalities combined under 1 program. A good example would be the ardour + hydrogen + rosegarden, although they have overlapping functions, each program delivers something that is unique that I wish the other would incorporate to actually make a more seamless transition when working.
At the moment I'm happy working with linux, got my pacman, and gnome problem fixed, now its the cups turn...
