Cardbus/PCMCIA card for a desktop computer

I hope this is in the right section, but I've got a question.  Currently, my gf has a laptop, and to get on the internet she uses a Verizon Wireless Audiovox PC5740 EV-DO card.

That's what it looks like.  Everything works great, I've been using a couple scripts and pages off the net to get it to work properly under Arch and it actually does.  She's been using it for a long time.  Here's where the problem starts to come in.  She's been wanting to ditch her laptop and have me build her a desktop, but she's locked into this card for another year under contract, so she still wants to use this for her internet.

How hard, or I guess is it even possible to use this card though a pcmcia to pci adapter under linux to still get her on the net on her desktop?

I hope I've been clear with my question here. I know this is probably more of a unique problem as I've searched all over and not found much information on the subject.  I've found some, but mostly people are using those adaptors to control wireless cards that goto routers, and not this kind of EV-DO card that goes to cell phone towers.

Thanks for any insight and help you can offer smile
