Problem with hal - user session (solved)

Hi all,

I have a problem with hal. I've been reading the post related to this kind of problems, for Arch and other Linux distributions, but I haven't found a solution yet.

I'm using Archlinux updated, kde, 2 user accounts (let say P and Y). Both equal almost everything, and belong the same groups.

Problem:
Plugin an usb disk, and the kernel detects it; user Y have a popup window asking if he wants to mount, etc.
User P, nothing happens. If I try (with user P) to access konqueror -> System storages -> mount, I receive the error: "A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device. Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")"

A few weeks ago, with user P, I marked the option "do nothing" and "don't bother me again" when that popup happened.

I've been searching where the mark is, file, or whatever that says hal not to allow mounting, or where I can reconfigure that behavior. But I haven't found anything so far (I've search down .kde directory and HOME).

Does anyone know where is the configuration problem?
Thanks,
Peibol

I know you said they are in the same groups, but double check to make sure they are in the 'storage' and possibly 'optical' group.  I'm not sure where else to check.  Good luck.

EDIT: Woo! 100th post big_smile

Hi tom5760,

they are in the same groups.

Anyway, if you check "don't ask me again" when the window opens, there should be a config file where the option choosen is writen.

Does anyone know where is it?

Peibol.

Re: Problem with hal - user session (solved)

I've found the solution, it was so simple as open kcontrol (control center), peripherals, storage devices. Then choose mimetype "unmounted resource", and change the default action. Click apply, and that's it.
