Enabling a dvd writer Feature [SOLVED]

I have a Plextor 750A. In attempting to write an appendable dvd (both with DVD-R and DVD-RW) the following error is shown by growisofs: Feature 21h not on.

A little research shows that Feature 0021h is "Incremental Steaming Writable".

Can this be enabled or do I have to buy a new DVD writer?

EDIT:

It turns out that DAO will not build an appendable DVD or DVD-R. Rather than using k3b, use growisofs -Z /dev/dvd=imagefile.iso,  or cdrskin, a wrapper utility I found which use the -multi and -tao switches.
