Pacman3 and changelogs.

One of the things I was waiting for in Arch packages were "the changelogs".

Now, as we have pacman3 and -c || --changelog flag, are you planning to provide
a changelog with every package, or it will, or will not be adopted by the developers
and it's not going to be enforced in any way?

It'd be great if I could check what's new in the package even before upgrading it,
simply by looking at http://www.archlinux.org/packages/

Cheers,
W.

Re: Pacman3 and changelogs.

Hello,

Changelogs should be provided with new packages being built. The developers / TUs were informed lately (tur-users lists) that they should include a ChangeLog to any package which is newly built.

It could take some time until all packages are updated with a ChangeLog, also it can be that several packages are updated without a changelog (due to a lack of time or due to the reason that the packager forgot it), but basically, yes, there will be changelogs provided in the future.

Anyway, no dev / TU can be forced to do so, but i think most of them actually plan to release packages with a changelog.

I agree the web interface could/should definitely have changelog output.
