Graveman burning problem

I installed graveman, it had no problem recognizing my 2 drives, one cd-rw and one dvd-rw. I finally got mp3 support working, so I decided to burn a cd. It got to 100%, and started closing the buffer. Then I got an error message, "Operation Failed". And, thats pretty much it. Every time I try to burn any kind of cd, data or music, I get that error.

Re: Graveman burning problem

Have you tried the CDs after burning to see if they work?

I always get the same error, but the CDs always work just fine.  I don't know what's causing the error, though.

Re: Graveman burning problem

Open a terminal emulator (xterm or others), start graveman out of this terminal, burn a CD and paste the output here.

Re: Graveman burning problem

I have this exact same problem.  The discs work fine but I get and error - it's really annoying, esp as graveman is basically unmaintained now!

OK, I found this bug report: http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?16952

Basically it seems to be a problem if you have a CD/DVD writer combo drive.  I do so that fits my case.

And I made this patch: http://code.thewrecker.net/files/gravem … iter.patch

It should be applied from within the root source directory.  I'd write an updated PKGBUILD but I don't have time right now.

I am at work so I can't test the patch or the results.  Also, it's worth noting that this only applies to the latest release.  Current SVN is hell and gone away from this code now.  I'm not too impressed with how the project has been maintained, that've not even tagged any releases in SVN!

Re: Graveman burning problem

I'll try the patch now.

Mine doesn't just say the burn failed, but I tried it with 2 music cd's and 2 data cd's, and they both had problems (music cd's only worked about 1/2 way through, data cd's were corrupt in some parts)

Re: Graveman burning problem

Works for me.  If someone else can confirm I'll submit a patch to the bug tracker

Hmm, well, I'll bet the patch won't fix that.  As far as I can tell an error will still error out with this patch.

I uploaded a patch for the PKGBUILD to the bug tracker, pending successful reports here.

Re: Graveman burning problem

You mentioned that Graveman isn't being worked on anymore, do you have another recommendation for a gui burning tool? (light on dependencies smile
