A couple quick questions: Device mounting and wireless

I've run Arch in KDE and never run into these couple problems, so maybe you guys can help. I'm on a fresh, updated Duke install with GNOME.

(1) Devices won't mount. hal is in my rc.conf daemons, and I added myself to the hal group. Still, a security/permissions issue prevents devices from mounting, unless I manually mount them via Terminal as root.

(2) I installed the madwifi package with pacman, but can't get wireless actually up-and-running. If I add ath0 (my typical interface for wireless) to my rc.conf interfaces line, I just get an error on restarting the network. Likewise, ath0 doesn't show up in the gnome-network-manager applet. ifconfig only shows lo and eth0, but iwconfig shows my wireless interfaces (ath0 and wifi0, which madwifi uses).

Re: A couple quick questions: Device mounting and wireless

Update: I'm in the group dbus, storage, and optical in addition to hal. I still get this error when mounting in my account. Devices mount perfectly when logged in as root...

Re: A couple quick questions: Device mounting and wireless

Problems solved! Added gnome-network-manager and its deps; added udev and network manager (amongst other stuff) to my rc.conf. Now my Arch is pretty near-perfectly configured!
